Panorama Ridge

Harrison’s VSOP [Very Special Outdoor Place]
7070, Rockwell Drive, Harrison Hot Springs BC

Fifteen thousand years ago, a huge glacier carved three ridges into the side of Bear Mountain, high above Harrison Lake, leaving behind granite boulders, fossil rocks and a beautiful setting. From these three plateaus (or benches), the view encompasses Thunderbird Estates, Harrison Village, Echo Island, and Cascade Bay. Tall fir and cedar trees frame these views and provide shade from the sun which shines all day long on this tranquil scene.

Hundreds of feet below Panorama Ridge, boats of all descriptions flit around the lake, leaving geometric wave patterns on the lake’s glassy surface when it’s calm. If the wind is up, the squalls and whitecaps can be seen progressing across the lake, delighting the yachtsmen and windsurfers alike. Occasionally, a heroic little tug strains to guide a massive log boom into the head of Harrison River or drag an equipment barge to a logging camp up the lake.

While looking down from Panorama Ridge, one is struck by the tranquility of the scene and becomes aware of the birds in the trees and on the hillsides behind. Some are cheerfully feeding and twittering around. Some, like the ravens and eagles, pass silently below as they glide along the ridge. In the background is the splattering of a waterfall somewhere on the steep hillside behind the ridge.

If you’ve been looking for a unique place to host a picnic, barbeque, wedding, product launch or some other special event, call Sasquatch Springs RV Resort in Harrison to find out how your event can be the occasion to remember for you and your guests. Whatever you want to do, doing it in a beauty spot like Panorama Ridge will set the scene for success. Parking for your guests is no problem and, though it’s rustic, normal footwear is adequate but stiletto heels could be tricky.

Finding Panorama Ridge is easy. From the 4-way stop in the middle of the village, follow Lillooet Ave and Rockwell Drive East and North towards Sasquatch Provincial Park for 4 kilometres. At the crest of the hill and on your right you will see the Bear Mountain Forest Service Road. About 70 metres in, the second gated driveway on your right leads to Panorama Ridge which is private property. Admission by appointment only.
